Saturday morning - I had to catch up on a little sleep. Went out to meet a friend for a few hours. I love brunch in Autumn, especially sitting outdoors to eggs benedict and OJ. Came home and suited up for an early afternoon training/stretch ride. The weather was perfect. Came home after a few errands to embark on domesticcity - life is always dull in that department. Spent the evening preparing for the Southern Maryland Century tomorrow. Ran out of body glide...ha!... what a thing, had to run an extra errand to the bike shop to pick up some Assos chamois cream (there are other funny products out there, like Chamois Butt'r) - an intimate thing you need to apply to avoid getting saddle sores.

Thank goodness it is Friday - the hellish week is now finally over. Work was a wild drama-fest with multiple deliverables. Made for a stressful day. But we were able to finish up. I met with a friend after work and we biked from STerling to Leesburg - then it started to rain. Arrg. But my friend was a true soldier - we finished up all wet. Oh well. photo by d. scott gregory Cleaning cassette click on photo to enlarge |

The evening was all preparation for Sunday's Southern Maryland Century - completely took apart my bike and cleaned, degreased and relubed, and re-assembled (have to after biking in the rain). I took the time to put new handlebar tape on - black and blue (ha!). Watched a few movies and went to bed late. Life is Bike-a-licious.

Strange busy day - work was a wild mess. The weather became beautiful. Went on a training ride with my bike club - to destress, biked with the AA group. It was fast and furious. Finished 34 miles in under 1.5 hours (even while stopping at a few stop lights) - doing the Algonkian circuit loops. Finished up all salty and in the dark. It's time to break out my lighting equipment, noteably the flashers. Sad note, I was just informed by my dear Father, that my last Great Aunt passed away this evening (we have known of her condition for a while - and have been prepared for this for a while). As a Christian Scientist Practitioner, she had left respects for no recognition nor formality of her passing (funeral/memorial, et al.). I have to respect those wishes - but I will recognise that I love her dearly and will miss her. She was such a passionate lady. Life, sometimes too can pass.

Tiresome day. But at least the weather cleared up - turned into a wonderful Autumn afternoon & evening. Spent some time at the gym doing a spinner class. Yea, relaxing. Work? - naw, hence the time to destress at the gym. Tomorrow is another day.

Rainy, traffic-ridden, stress workday - had to bike afterwards for a few hours on the spinner bike at the gym to destress and sweat gallons. Whatevvah.

Sleepy, exhausting, relaxing kinda Labor Day. Took a training ride in the morning - a mere 52 miles. Perfect cycling weather. Came home & took a nap, woke up, showered and met a friend for a leisurely bike ride - unfortunately, it rained a little. Oh well. Wasn't a downpour. Finished up, came home after a few errands, had dinner and then fell asleep watching a little tv. What a slacker I be. Not looking forward to this busy week it's gonna be. Life is Good.

What a relaxing Labor Day weekend. Not only was it supurb weather today - I had a great training ride out towards Harpers Ferry. Just perfect weather. Part of it was a little breezy, but caught a nice tailwind home totalling 54 miles. Came home, took a quick nap and then a shower before I ventured out in the late afternoon to drive down and have a fantastic grilled steak dinner with my parents. They are such amazing creatures. I love their smiles, their spirit, company and all the stories and humor we share. Came home to an evening of domesticity and preparation for tomorrow's furthered fun in the weather. Meantime, I will spend the late night just relaxing. Life is Good.
