Seems that it's stayed cool for the time being...actually COLD.

Nice relaxing Saturday ...full of errands. Went to Trader Joes - I just love their stuff. Picked up some mozzarella cheezeballs,

Went to the bike store, kinda milled about - even suprized myself that I left empty handed. Did a little holiday shopping and picked up a few provisions for a holiday project I'm working on.

Ended up in Vienna - was ready for a very fast (albeit light out) bike ride, was to be fast because it was cold. I did the Vienna - Hamilton stretch on the WO & D trail. even 50 miles. I was completely frozen when I got back - and it was dark. I imagined that I had snotcicles.

Came home, ate dinner, and expected family to arrive - when any child is ever around=all attention to child (period). No matter what age. The younger, the more attention.

Rain, rain, go away...come back some other day...

Rained all day. What a sloppy day commuting in it. Made me feel sleepy at work - then I knew I was gonna have to skip my bike ride (which angers me for 2 reasons - one, I won't be able to have my bike ride and two, my 17 mile drive home during rush hour - especially in the rain took me an hour and a half).

Came home, had dinner, made plans for weekend - nothing spectacular. Just lots of domestic stuff to do, errands, haircut, early Xmess shopping - a little writing, and of course biking, et al.

Will spend the evening catching up on a design project related to my cookblog.

ahhh... 11:11 on 11/11.

Was a stressful day at work, but glad it was over - long day, didn't get out to bike until almist 6:30. Was a very cold 28 mile ride, and dark.

Think I may coming down with a cold, unsure. I have the stuffed up nose and a cough, but I feel fine. Came home late, ate dinner now watching Saving Private Ryan - Veteran's Day inspired film on tv.

Yet another chilly day - oh well, it's that time of the year. Little to really say today - sorta status quo - long day at the office, very chilly, dark bike ride (only did 31 miles). What's odd is that I have not seen any deer for the past 3 days - since it's become around freezing.

Just found out my younger brother is coming through town this weekend - I'll be able to bachelor it up wuth him on Saturday night. We'll prolly cook something, who knows (he's getting back from a trip - he may not be up for doing something "on the town"). Will play it by ear.

Brrrrrrrrrr! My gosh what a chilly day. Woke up cold, was cold after shower....was cold scraping frost off my car's windows....just bitter cold. First real day of "almost winter".

Work went by smoothly, with an offsite meeting that took a large portion of the day. Geared up for my bike ride - which is becoming a real event.

Only did 28 miles - I was completely frozen when I got back to my car. I turned on the car and put the heat on high while I dissasembled my bike and put stuff back in car. Brrrrr...

I obviously spoke too soon yesterday about the nice warm weather. Brrrr. It got chilly today - and tonight it's gonna drop down to the high 20s.

Went on a VERY chilly bike ride after a long day at the office - only 34 miles - but very chilly. I wore my new gloves, headgear...two pair of socks, my winter biking jacket & long bike tights. I was nice and toasty - except for my fingertips and my toes at the end of the ride - totaly numb. I need to figure something out to keep them warm.

Came home and had some really a really tasty Rosemary, garlic, and Port Marinaded Roasted Pork Loin (link goes to my cookblog for recipe), I have been marinading the loin for a day and a half. It was more than delicious.

I must be spoiled with the way the weather has been this Fall - nothing but day after day of beautiful Fall days - even if it's a little chilly or raining. Today, the temperature soared into the low 70s. Milled aroud the house doing domestic stuff, then ran a few errands before my bike ride. Frustrating though. I needed a replacement light bulb for my slide projector - (needed it to see some old slides with the parents tonight), dang single replacement bulb cost me $31....sheesh. Then I went to return...exchange...for the third time my new jeans. Never EVER get "relaxed" fit jeans...unless yer lying about your pant size. I know I have a 30-31 inch waist, but my gosh - i bought those sizes (stupidly not trying them on), they were waaaayyy too big. the other prob is trying to find size 28 in that "relaxed" fit. Fuckers.

Drove to Vienna for a bike ride - was such a beautiful day, had the moon roof open, all windows open. Went on a spectacular 45 miler - felt great to be out for that long, while it was light out...and not cold. Pacelined part of the way with a few people I did the Reston Century nack in July.

Came home, had steak on the grill (with the gratuitous onions and mushrooms in a marsala, butter and caper sauce), baked potato and asparagus....yummmy.

Looked at a bunch of old slides my parents had (trying to consolidate, digitize....in that process). Came across this fantastic photo of my father back when he was in Vietnam - one of maybe 3 surviving pics in his two tours. This was taken the same year I was born. He looks very young and like he's asleep standing up - he described it as brutal and dirty. It's by far one of the coolest pictures I've seen of my dad. (click on pic to enlarge photo)
