What a messy day - woke up incredibly sleepy and stressed - I got to work late after dealing with getting my headset on my bike adjusted last minute (was loose - damn mileage). Work was a wild mess of drama teemed with trying to wrap up shit before I left at 2pm to head to Salsbury, MD. I was already stressing about the long ass drive.

I got on the road at about 2pm - it took me 2 hours to get to the other side of DC - I think I never got above 30mph. Traffic was horrible. Overall, the entire trip to Salsbury took about 5 hours (shitty for a 160 mile drive). Was a nice drive over the Bay Bridge (over the Potomac - pictured, click to enlarge) - then once over - the drive picked up. I got to the crappy "hotel" and settled in - after a few short errands. That hotel, Days Inn was nasty. It was a horribly botched "renovation" in the 80s - and just reaked of seediness.

But it was cheap - otherwise I would have spent 180+ a night in Ocean City, MD....screw that if I'm only staying a short overnight (pics of the hotel - click to enlarge). Ordered in food from Chilis and took a quick swim at the pool - just chilled out and watched a silly movie on cable. Hit the sack @ 11pm - I had to get up at 5:30am....
Busy Busy Busy...
I think I'm almost packed - all stations go. Since I'm leaving directly from work tomorrow to go directly to Salsbury, MD - more preparations. Anyhoo.
Work was very packed - after taking a few days off. Got all done that had to get done - and then some. Biked with my cycling club afterwards - weather was beautiful, albeit windy. Just sunny and a little humid. We packed in a long ass ride, 46 miles.
I'm not looking forward to the long haul - but I'm leaving work early. On a Friday..during the summer, the Bay Bridge will be a nightmare. Everyone and their brother will be trying to go to the beach for the weekend. Will be interesting. I'm though looking forward to a "relaxing" weekend of spending the night in a hotel..that has a pool, then getting up super dooper early to drive a half hour..then bike for 103 miles. Will be a nice picnic afterwards. Then I'll stave off sleepiness and cramps while lactic acid refluxes in my legs for the 3.5 hour drive home.
Until Late saturday night... more fun!
I am back from my mini-vacation...I need another just to recover...hell why not...I'll be going to Berlin, MD this weekend for another Century -
Trail View 100 (fairly flat 100 mile ride - I'm going to time trial this fucker)...
I'm utterly exhausted - words cannot describe all the planning/work is involved in this past week and this next weekend (staying in Salsbury, MD - then hooking up with some friends en route). I'm unsure why I put myself thru it. Actually I do - pure thrill of actually having some sort of a busy life.
Well, I'm not sure if I'm gonna take the time to retype what I did this past 5 days, if one cannot read my handwriting, it's similar to the blur of activity I endured.
Today I managed to get all my stuff together and drive back from my parent's lake house after a few farewells/thank yous...was a long ass drive...over 5 hours (I'm still not used to it). Great weather overall. I feel 1/2 relaxed and 1/2 stressed. I am doing 1.5 work days then off again..then back for a huge Father's Day Dinner (which I started prepping tonight - spicy crab stuffed mushrooms, appetizer...).
Lots of cooking and cycling soon - and the recipes/cookbook to follow. Oh, and pics from the lake house - nothing spectacular. I did manage to get in a lot of very hilly cycling - similar to the MoM, just less mileage - less than 40 miles per training ride.
Chores chores chores - laundry to finish, emails to answer, packing to continue...
(I don't wanna go to work tomorrow..I should have just took the entire week off - damn)
