wonderful day. ready for Mountains of Misery this weekend. Nervous, yet excited. All packed now, ready to haul ass down to Blacksburg and then gear up for the race. Was excused from work early (memorial day weekend) and went shopping for some new clothes. Was pleasantly suprized at what I was able to get...and even had a pair of pants hemmed in an hour.

Great day...too much to think about, say, write, explain....I'll be gone this weekend, til Monday - cycling my ass off. Fun stuff :)

Life is Fantastic!

What a WONDERFUL day. Numero uno, work turned into an apology fest of sorts where ABBA shockingly apologized to me formally about all the shit that he's been putting me through. Then he left for the day - and I won't see him for a few days (thank frickin goodness - now we can have a drama-less work environment to actually get real uninterrupted work done).

Had to go to DC to get some clearance paperwork completed - felt good to have that process behind me, so the morning and early afternoon was shot. The rest of the day sailed by and I was ready to leave to drop off my baby, my Orbea...to have her re-indexed at my "Wrench". Spent an hour shooting the shit with cycling comrads at the bike store before I wandered off to go to my spinner class.

Smiles. I love my spinner class, not only because it's a fantastic workout/training scenario for my mountain climbs, but also because of the company. No details here, but there's a woman in the class who I've adored from afar for a while whom I finally had the 16 year old teenager-shy gumption to sorta ask out. Smiles. This by far has made my week, month, year. Unsure why I get all shy around this woman, she just makes me that way - in a good honest way. I was honored to actually exchange phone numbers with the plan to make plans after the weekend. I was nervous as a pimpled-faced teenager in the delivery. I can bike literally thousands of miles, and stare up a huge challenge like the one I'm up for this weekend (Mountains of Misery) - but I have been deliberating the delivery of how to approach her for weeks. Now, I'm grinning like a cheshire cat.

Came home still smiling, great weather still, watered my deck garden, finished domestic things and then finally settled into see the season Finale of LOST. It was quite good.

Life is FANTASTIC.... hee hee

810th post. Just a number.

Crappy day at office - pure idiocy dealing with ABBA and his off-medicated shenanegans. It's amazing how unprofessional this turd can be. Such is life. I was ready, VERY ready to leave the office and take the stress off. The weather was fantastic, clear skys, perfect temperatures to bike my way out towards Purcellville. Gave me ample time to clear the stress and compile thoughts of my plans/preparation/strategy for MoM this weekend. All present and accounted for.

Few errands on the way home, then spent the early evening cleaning my bike from top to bottom (took it all apart, cleaned, lubed and re-assembled). I have to take it to my "Wrench" (bike mechanic) tomorrow to have the gears/shifters re-indexed for this particular ride - and with the new gear cassette - it needs it. So I NEVER want to present my bike to my "Wrench" with a less-than-clean bike. It's like going to the dentist - you make sure you brush your teeth, similar concept.

Spent the evening trying to relax after such a fucked up day. Still pissed. Good thing I have a full weekend of pure masochist abuse ahead of me to wipe the slate clean of all the abuse and bullshit I endure daily at my office. I won't be yelling at myself as I and on that last endorphin and quad searing ascent about to cramp mile..I'll be yelling outside at that asshole ABBA - for having zero professional tact to have the courtesy of humanity. Screw that - I'm doing this for myself. I should be tossing resume after resume into the wind. Fucker.

Tomorrow is another day - and will enjoy my time away from the office doing office related things, less drama. Then will enjoy my time at the spinner class, with a woman that I've become extra smitten with :) Then time to drop off my clean bike at my wrench, and time to unravel and unwind with the last episode of Lost.

Life is a spit-shined Ultegra Smile

Nasty drama at work, but tolerable to say the least. I never know how to manage my time when ABBA (Asshole Bipolar Boss Asshole) hasn't managed his meds. Suffice to say - the drama made the day go by rather fast. I was ready to escape to go on a bike ride and head to the gym. It was a glorious day, albeit very windy. I biked out to Clarks Gap and had a nice sail home. Headed to the gym for a very sweaty spinner class. I enjoy that company of my spinner buds. Stopped by the library on the way home to get a few books on CD for my drive down and back to Blacksburg over the weekend - of all things, I picked up "Bridget Jones Diary" (side note, my father listened to it a few years ago, before he saw the movie...he thought it was hilarious). Came home and dwindled around the house doing domestic things, correspondence, and preparations for the week/weekend, with a little tv.

Oh the Drama.

What a wonderful day. Weather was perfect, albeit a little windy - but it was brilliant and warm. I slept in late and then headed out on a light training ride out towards Purcellville. Came home, prepared for the work week and began preparations for my trip next weekend to Mountains of Misery in Blacksburg, VA. Rana few quick errands and came home to make Maryland Crab Cakes (recipe & photos below). I had a ball making them - and just decided to make an evening of cooking and photographing the end results. They were VERY good.

Another work week starts tomorrow - oh well. Back to the grind, but I have much work to prepare for next weekend.

Life is Good.

Maryland Crab Cakes

Ingredients:
2 lbs Maryland lump crab
2 eggs
3/4 cup mayonaise
1 lemon, juiced
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1 tbsp dijon mustard
1 cup bread crumbs
1tbsp crab bake seasoning (like Old Bay)
1 small handfull fresh italian parsley, chopped

Preparation:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
In a medium sized bowl, combine all ingredients and mix thouroughly. Form small fist sized balls and roll until firm, make into patties and lay aside. In a medium sautee pan over high heat, lightly brown crab cakes with butter, each side for 3 minutes. Transfer crab cakes to a baking tray and place in oven and bake for 11 minutes.

To plate:
Serve over blanched asaparagus, and drizzle tarter sauce.
