Busy busy busy holiday kinda day. Slept in (thank goodness - needed the rest after such a hellish week), then went out on a series of errands before and after my bike ride.
Finally had my car washed - she looks so beautiful, like a crack ho with polished gold teeth. Yo yo bling bling - my dubs be dah fo shizzle. Went on a really frigid bike ride (after all...it's December, fools) - all 43 miles. I finally decided...enough of this crap with my rookie toesties (neoprene bike shoe covers)...I decided to invest in the real deal.
First stop on my post bike ride errands (supposed to be for xmess shopping) was Hudson Trail Outfitters...I had seen a pair of Pearl Izumi booties that I wanted..they happened to be on sale...well..in the clearance area...originally $60, I snagged them for a cool (scuse the pun) $39. They will keep my feet really warm I hope...teemed with the 2 pairs of wool biking socks I got at Performance (with my Performance member coupons). I've decided that I'm a smart frugal cheap ass shopper. Then again, who the hell spends $60 on a pair of neoprene booties for their bike shoes?
Speaking of being a cheap ass consumer..I stopped off at my other bike store where I had the bike that I currently ride put together and tuned...they guarantee a free adjustment for indexing gears for life...so I stopped by, dropped off my bike...then headed to Walmart (next door) to do a little xmess shopping for my nephews and neices (1/2 of whom I've already shopped for...)...That place was a mess...from parking lot thru the checkout and back. Please quote me...I fucking hate Wal*Mart.
Finished up, picked up my bike, and drove home to unload my packages, take a shower (I get all sorts of looks at walmart in my winter biking gear...black tights...I sorta stand out...like I'm a stick walking the aisles). Then proceded to make a really wonderful dinner (Linguini with Prociutto, Canadian Bacon, Shitake Mushrooms in a Pesto butter sweet wine sauce) - recipe to be posted later on my cookblog.
Spent the rest of my evening wrapping presents and signing cards - my gosh...the older I get..the more shit I have to do. More gifts to buy because people are breeders...and the multiplicity is staggeringly that...multiplicity. I must be Mr Duplicity. Tomorrow will be more of the same - cold biking domestic xmess shopping.

Thank goodness it's freekin Friday. Work was a tough day - and my 34 mile bike ride tonight was frigid. More of the same I know - but tonight's ride was especially nasty. I was in full winter cycling regalia - and I still had to stop every 20 minutes to re-warm my hands and at the half way point..take off my bike shoes and warm my numb toes.
I'm ready to settle into the weekend relaxing by finishing up my Xmess shopping, a few bike rides, domestic stuff...nothing over the top....will cook something special over the weekend...have not figured out what yet.
Will take the plunge into the bike bootie world, these toe covers will not do until Spring. After dinner tonight, I spent my usual hour cleaning and lubing my bike for the weekend - It's a chore...but makes me seem all the more pathetic. I spend this time on a Friday night doing this...instead of being out doing something fun.
I need to re-evaluate my priorities..or shuffle a few things. I question if it is healthy for a 36 year old single man spends 2 hours cycling in the cold, dark, rain after work on a friday night (or every night after work) and then come home and spend a time to clean and lube the bike for more of the same.
I should be out seeing a movie...or out with friends...or spending time in (a studio) making art....or .....
yea....
good thing New Year's Eve is coming up..I have a shitload of resolutions to attempt....

I think Winter is officially here, December 2nd - it's now cold outside, Xmess decorations are up, Xmess Jingles are playing non-stop on the radio.
Work was a whirlwind of a staggering amount of stress. Was just absolutely how over-the-top how everything-is-a-sudden-emergency and had-to-be-done-yesterday, teemed with a bounty of miscommunication, horrible planning/desision making, with an icing layer of ABBA bipolar assholescent goodness.
I was more than ready to get out of there and vehemently volunteer to bike for 35 miles in the freezing cold and darkness. Boy it was colder than a witch's tit. My fingers were almost frozen by the time I had assembled my bike, put on my balacava, headband, helmet, hydration bladder, turned on my blinkers, locked the car. I stopped every 20 minutes to take off my gloves and warm my frozen fingers. By the time I got back to my car, my feet were completely numb. I couldn't even feel them when I changed out of my bike shoes. After the 25 minute drive home, they were still numb. I may get a pair of winter booties over the weekend.
I dread work tomorrow - it's gonna be more of the same, but teemed with an avalanche of more stress. AT least it will be Friday.

Very long and laborious day at work - new tight deadline. I abhor the savvy "salemanship/marketing" methodology ABBA has when it comes to appeasing clients...he basically just bends over and pathetically says (begs) "yes, we can definately do this...like in one hour..." without knowing that development time on some of these projects could take weeks to do. His desperate way of "showing face" with our clients (- it's embarrassing, especially when the client comes to us and sidelines saying the same). Then he turns around and says to us, "you guys are fucking killing me here - I told him we'd be done today with this....our fucking reputation is on the line...don't fucking embarrass me..."
oh..gotta love the stereotypical dilusional bipolar paranoid freak. If ABBA doesn't open his eyes real quick - he may not have too many more people working for him.
Was a chilly day albeit colorful clouds and windy - very gusty. I ended up working late to finish a chunk of a project then geared up for my bike ride. Boy, it was cold cold cold. 36 miles of freezing-my-ass-off bliss. I had to stop 4 times to warm up my fingers - such a delicate procedure. There were hardly anyone out on the trail...maybe 4 cyclists in the 36 miles...a few runners. It was just cold cold cold.
Came back, loaded bike in car...headed home, had catfish for dinner. Just more domestic stuff. Time to wrap xmess presents. Another day, another donut.

Oy Oy Oy...what a long day. Started out early - regular work day. Day sailed by smoothly - few fires to put out.
It was starting to rain when I was gearing up to take a bike ride - I was only gonna do about 25 miles. Then this odd thing takes over - almost like an addiction, I will bike to a certain milestone and be like "wow..that felt great..I'll just continue..." until that milestone keeps getting further and further...then I find myself out 20 miles and I need to start heading back before it gets too cold, wet, late. I've been playing this game for a few weeks. I've been trying to cut down on my milage for the winter (because of the darkness, frigid issue, et al). But then on slightly warmer days (even if it is raining) I just push the envelope.
Anyhoo, came back to my car after 41 miles - was a great ride (even though it was raining, dark and cold) - it's my therapy.Life is simple... Eat Sleep Bike...

Was a sleepy day - was up late last night trying to finish a project (got it done). Chilly Fall/Winter Day - sings, "It's beginning to look a lot like depression..."
Work was boring as hell up until the late afternoon - new project that's not mucked up in bureaucratic paperwork and boring project management blarf.
Bike ride after work was really cold, 38 miles of freezing my ass off. Well, not my ass - my fingers and toes. I still cannot find the best medium to keep my fingers and toes warm during a 2 hour bike ride.
Saw a really cool owl - it was this huge mass of stubby feathers and eyes - the thing sailed with me for about 50 feet. Welp, time to wrap a few xmess presents - gonna get all this done early this xmess (for a change).

Busy, yet relaxing day. Slept in, did a few domestic things around the house (yawn, boooring). THen geared up and drove out to Vienna for a quick 49 mile bike ride. It was beautiful - visually, not a cloud in the sky, bright. Unfortunately, it was very windy. I had stupidly biked with the wind out 24 miles, I got there in an hour, took me almost 2 hours to bike back. Was a great ride tho.
Ran a few xmess errands afterwards, came home, showered, ate dinner, doing laundry, same ol sunday night anxiety BS.....
