Such a wonderful HOT day. Slept in real late and then went on a really sweaty 52 mile training ride to Harpers Ferry and back. Spent a little time at the pool then finished up with errands before I had to finish preparations for having my parents over for a dinner feast. I ended up making a Sun Dried Tomato Rissotto with Andouli Sausage with Mussels in Chardonnay Butter Broth, a mixed spring green salad with a walnut vinegrette dressing - for dessert, a (store bought) Mocha Chocolate cake (All pictured: photo by d. scott gregory Parents over for dinner click on photo to enlarge |

I am NOW ready for the LONG 4th of July weekend... Work was just a casual drama effort. Fortunately the office closed early so I could put in a schweet 48 mile (total) training ride out towards Purcellville and back - then followed up at the gym for an hour on the spinner bike to get in some "mountain" action. It was a brilliant day - weather spectacular, with a light breeze. Ran a crapload of errands on the way home - including all the provisions for the feast I'm gonna make for my parents tomorrow eve. Finished all of my domesticity, and such to insure a relaxing evening. Watched Match Point - strange film directed by Woody Allen, anxiety driven with a fucked up ending. Although, the opera soundtrack I'm impressed with - tragically, I NOW have to get it. This weekend will be a busy one - with much cycling, cooking, relaxation, tom-foolery and just comraderie - even a few fireworks :) Life is Good :)

What a strange day. The weather was cooperative, came in early to work to get through a long meeting. I was exhausted, and sleepy. But managed to frump through the day. It ended on a positive productive note or two. Called a buddy of mine in my cycling club to find out what the prospect of weather was gonna be for our ride, he said "it's a no go" - apparrently, a lotta storms were heading in. So I opted for the gym - and I'm glad I did (hence the photos of the hail). I spent 2 hours and 15 minutes at the gym in a total sweatfest, felt great. I could see it storming outside. When I finished up at the gym, I drove home after a few errands. Unpacked all my packages and was going to drive 3 blocks to drop off my trash at the community compactor - low and behold...in less than 2 minutes...it went from clear skys to a huge ass thunderstorm with marble sized hail (pictured). I was being pelted as I tried to put the garbage in the bins...said screw this...then hopped in my car and skidded around the corner to be under a carport. It was wild and loud. Suffice to say, I salvaged my car from any serious dents from ther hail. It all passed over and I drove the few blocks back, parked and was amazed. Then I realized that my deck garden was probably all pelted (it sustained a serious blow - it will survive :) ). Life is Strange.

"Every time I see someone on a bicycle I fear less for the future of the human race." H.G. Wells Work was a dramafest, no need to even talk about it. It finally stopped raining. Went out on a 24 mile bike ride out past Leesburg (it was hot, yet beautiful) before my spinner class - which only lasted an hour. Unsure why, but it was a really sweaty class. Finished up and came home for an evening of securing plans for the long weekend ahead. Seems that I'm gonna cook a feast for my parents on Saturday (combo of belated Father's Day + Mother's B-Day feast). I need to figure out what I wanna cook. Cracks my knuckles. Life is Good :)

Like we need any more rain, bleah! It's rained non stop for almost 3 days - major flooding, causing lots of inconvenience. Oh well, such is life. Work was work, typical drama and crisis management. Left late and headed to the gym for a 2 hour spinner ride. Came home to my usual domesticity. Life is Still Ordinary.

Rain Rain, go away, come back some other day! I mean sheesh. It has rained NONSTOP overnight and throughout the day - causing major flooding and mayhem. Spent the day holed up at the office getting work done, and then headed to the gym for a leisurely "stretch" spinner ride before my spinner class. The class was packed - with a few more cyclists that were needing an exile for a training workout while it rained. Total sweatfest. Finished up and came home after a few errands, honched on some store bought sushi while catching up on correspondence and silly domesticity.
