Woke up early with only one cat laying on me at my aunt's house couch, fixed myself a little coffee and had a little prune cake while I awaited my parents to come by to pick me up to rescue me after such a wonderful weekend of thanksgiving familila fun with my aunts, comprized of much food, cooking, more cooking, food, cats, hugs, stories, memories, merlot, coffee, hugs, and more pumpkin pie....We all had more hugs then farewell. I travelled with my parents back down to the Washington, DC area for me to pick up my car at their house re-packed with plants (pictured) and things to make the Fall feel just Fall...I managed to escape in enough time to get almost home for a long bike ride in the 40 degree weather - a mere 38 miler out to Purcellville and back. Finished up and ran a boatload of errands including a circle-jerk trip to get my car washed, needing serious directions from a friend to find the joint. Followed up by time at the MALL (I hate it)...managing to get a few xmess gifts. In the process, I returned the dvd that I got en route at the McDs in MD for my nephews, and exchanged it for Kinsey - I thought a great film, which I saw as I unpacked my things from the T-Day weekend. I wrote a simple summary of the film/documentary of it on a post-it note, "Kinsey made a scientific taxonomy of sex, but agreed to never measure the science of Love" I plan to sleep in tomorrow, I have had such a stressful 1/2 weekend - and the drama that's going to unfold in this next workweek needs more prayers than any bi-curious religious can handle. My faith is waining.

Monday, monday..... Woke up this morning to a very cloudy chilly morning. Headed into the office to prepare myself for the shock and awe of probably a dramatic day. Suprizingly, there was little drama to endure. What a relief. Floated thru the day with various tasks at hand which made the day comfortably fly by. About mid afternoon, I resigned myeslf from going on a training ride - it started pouring rain and the temperature dropped. I cannot afford to get sick, so I decided to forego my ride for pre-Thanksgiving errands...haircut, shopping, and come home to pack and prepare for the rest of the short workweek. Ho hum.

Wow, it's amazing how much different life can be when the weather is a little more cooperative. I slept in late this morning, to be greeted with almost a warm morning of weather (in comparison from the past few days). I spent the wee hours the night before gingerly wrapping presents (pictured). My goal is to get all my xmess shopping and wrapped before Thanksgiving - so I can enjoy the time before Xmess. photo by d. scott gregory Xmess Present Mayhem click on photo to enlarge |
I suited up mid morning and biked out towards Harpers Ferry, turning around at the West Virginia border - all in all, 52 miles - was crisp, almost warm - pure beautiful. The smell of Fall - leaves burning, oh my. Came home and settled into an afternoon of domesticity and cooking for the week (and premature packing for my t-day trip). Settling in for the evening with a little tv and relaxation before a (more than likely) stressful work week. Sunday night anxiety settles in.
