Welp - gonna leave a quick note. Today is 9/11 - Father's birthday (first) and 3rd year reminder of 9/11 (second). It was a beautiful day. Did all my errands and such. Haircut, et al. Boooring. Went on a stretch out ride...bout 20 miles, on the way back...thought of 9/11...and cried a little. It was cathartic.

Need to go to bed early, gotta get up early for the Southern Maryland Century at Indian Head, MD. I'm gonna be hurtin this time tomorrow night. I'm shooting for a 6 hour saddle time. Weather projected is 82 high, some clouds - but beautiful, with light breeze off the Potomac. Wish me luck. Ciao!

TGIF...Finally!!!!
I am completely burnt out from work - what a shitty day. I'm glad to see a weekend - with good weather, and next work week when ABBA will be out of the office all week. Today was a brilliant day - perfect weather. September crispness - clear blue skies, tad of warmth, tad of coolness, no humidity. Made for a great 38 mile bike ride after work (I am only doing a 20 mile stretch out session tomorrow before the Indian Head Century [100 miles] on Sunday). Came home, took bike apart and greased, cleaned, aligned everything - put back together.

Dumbass domestic errands tomorrow (haircut, trip to bike store to get tubes & Powebar energy gels) and that stretch out session for Sunday. Tomorrow is 9/11 - also my Father's Birthday - will speak more about this day at a later time. Will be out to dinner tomorrow night to celebrate my Father's birthday - such a great man..and a father...and grandfather. In addition, gonna watch Ladykillers with Tom Hanks tomorrow night (another odd Coen Brother's film), then go to bed early - have to get up at 6am to drive to Maryland for the Century ride in Indian Head that begins at 8:30am. Will be another long ass day - but good fun - the weather is supposed to be great.

Sorta a ho hum day. Went into work super early to avoid any drama. Fortunately, ABBA was not there - off at an offsite meeting (which I find out later he F-d up, got the day wrong). We were all a happy productive bunch until his surly ass came in to just be an ABBA. Enough about work.

Took a beautiful bike 42 mile bike ride tonight with the Reston Bike Club - the weather was interesting - shifty gusty winds, perfect 73 degree temp, little humid tho. The reminents of Hurricane Francis was still filtering through. It's getting darker earlier - so we have to bike faster to get back before it's pitch black.
Looking forward to the weather this weekend - tomorrow is Friday (YAY!), Saturday (September 11th, also my father's birthday) - errands and a quick stretch ride before my 100 mile Southern Maryland Century, "The Indian Head 100" ride on Sunday. I hope we have mild temperatures.

Got up extra early this morning to head to the office - knew traffic was gonna be bad. Took me over an hour to go less than 17 miles. Got to the office already fumed. Day went by annoyingly slow based on waiting around for other people to get their crap done so that I could finish the job at top speed - the 'ol "wait n hurry up" thang. I was the end of the relay race - I had to triple time my efforts because the slow pokes ran too slow.

It had been raining all day - hard downpours, but steady all day long - I was fearful that I wouldn't be able to ride after work. I went thru my routine - changed into my bike gear - put my hydration bladder into the sack, gathered all my things for the road, wallet, keys, put things in ziplock, put on my clear bike parka. It started to rain again. I waited about 10 minutes for the shower to pass. Then decided to go. Earlier, my mother called - said that there were tornado warnings and watches, to be careful. I always check www.weather.com before I leave to see the clouds and wind info. It looked ok...maybe a spotty shower off to the North.

So off I went - the road was wet - but the air was cool & humid. There was a fast low lying cloudbase with dark patches - it looked like it could've rained any moment. There was a harch gusty windfront coming from the East - the direction I was biking into. There was no one on the bike trail - on the 36 mile ride, I saw maybe 6 or 7 people (just us crazy idiodic bikers). It was windy as hell going out - but on the way back....flew home. It was a sweet ride. I was sweating like a mofo inside the rain parka. Got back in the dark. Felt great. Then it began to rain - just missed it.

Stressful day at the office - ABBA was being a total dick again. If there is ever such a thing as losing respect for someone who never had any to begin with, it seems to apply. I trudged thru the day, knowing that I was leaving the office early "to take care of some personal business" (going on a job interview for a creative director position). Which went really well. It's nice to talk with a new office - people that have complete interest in my abilities, capabilities, respect, professional courtesy. Crosses my fingers.

Drove to vienna and changed into my biking gear. Tropical Storm Francis is lingering - so alot of threatening to storm overcast. The 43 mile ride went smoothe until the last mile and a half - it poured. Just dumped rain. I was soaked to the bone when I got back to my car. Changed out of my wet bike gear, dried off my bike - drove home layed out my gear to dry overnight, ate dinner and am just starting to send out a whole new sleu of resumes for some jobs that were posted today.

Labor Day, 2004. Enjoyed the day off work - and will enjoy the short work week. I wonder how horrible this work week will be with ABBA freaking out before his conference trip next week. Will prove to be interesting. Doesn't really matter though - I have a few interviews scheduled for this week and next. I have an interview tomorrow - it's a challenge to sneak out and put on a suit for an interview.

Today was nice - well, rainy/misty all afternoon, but was a nice temperature. Ran a few tiny errands and then went out on a long afternoon bike ride, 62 miles. I bumped into a few of the people that were in the Reston Century last weekend - it's a cool thing.

Came home, had a great dinner - Grilled Filet Mignon covered in a buttery marsala onion & mushroom sauce, asparagus and some bread & basil/olive oil dipping sauce. Yummy.

It is starting to really feel like Fall - It's been nice and cool. I slept in this morning til about 10am - I was tired. Did a few domestic things around the house, ran some errands then eventually went on a 42 mile bike ride to keep the muscles stretched. It was beautiful out - perfect biking weather. Started to get some gusts of wind at the end as pre-boding of Hurricane Francis is heading North towards us.

Came home, cleaned up and lubed bike (always a pleasurable ordeal - especially cleaning the chain, deraillers, cassette, et al). Cleaned up and went out to dinner with parents at Bonefish. I had a superb Chirozo and cornbread encrusted King Salmon with a lemon butter basil sauce - it was delish and I was impressed.

Speaking of food - and cooking, my Mother saved me a weekend section of the Washington Post which showcased all the cooking classes in this area for this fall. It put a bug in my ear. I wasn't initially sure if she meant to give it to me as a hint that I need to learn how to cook - but then realized the real reason behind it. There was a few classes in there for "Provincial French Cooking for SINGLES". Wink back at ya, Mom. ;) Not that I need to "learn" how to cook - but I'd like to take a class just to meet new people that have shared interest.
