I stayed way up too late last night - and relized mid-ship that I had a Metric Century in Thurmont.

Last night I managed to "decorate" my office - as in put up some artwork over my desk (pictured), just an amalgam of artwork. Slept for a little while then finished all preparations to go - and headed out half mast. I forgot my damn digital camera and I forgot to put my gatorade in the freezer. Regardless - I was there basically on time for the leisurely start.

Was a pretty day - the heat was not bad - and was a leisurely pace. I managed to finish up in a few hours. Being that it was a scheduled ride but not a huge event - there was little SAG support. It was a wimpy ride tho - only 63 miles.

Came home and took a nap - was exhausted. Woke up and headed out on errands. Being that my parents are going to be here for a dinner party tomorrow night - I had a few last things to get. Stopped by Home Goods and finally got me a proper set of towels and washcloths - perception is everything. Got the rest of my salad stuff at Harris Teeter and headed home after scoring some grapevine reams to toy with the idea of making some grapevine balls (pictured). How metrosexual is that? Lol (spent an hour making them - after allowing the grapevines soak in warm water for a few hours).

Came home & cleaned and made preparations for tomorrow night's dinner...gonna be quasi-simple... (menu later)

Will be a simple morning - will go on a short 40+ miler training ride...come home bask in the pool..then have my parents over for a fantastic meal.....

Comments:
did not know grape vines had balls.

Thank goodness it cooled down - the excessive heat was getting oppressive. Today was a very stressful day at work - but it's all over now. Sent off afterwards for a quick 44 mile training ride, did some errands on the way home - came home to a house full of domestic chores. They still not done yet - so off to the domestic factory.....(took the series of pics of the sunset when I got home ...animated it...click to enlarge)

I must be having repetitive days in terms of things I do. The only few iterations was that we had a huge thunderstorm this evening and I got a few correspondence from some old friends when I sent off a "update your address books" email post last night.

So for the most part, work was extremely busy - all day long. Not a chance to take a lunch break (cannot remember the last time I actually had a "lunch break" - usually a "working lunch") - so had to curtail my silly domestic errands until after my training ride following work. No biggie - just silly shit.

It was another scorcher today - it was exactly 100 degrees when I finished up work, with a heat index of 116 degrees. All the pleas in the office for me to avoid my ride went unheard...I'm stubborn in that way...but I did assure the crowd that I was only gonna bike for an hour. Which proved to take place - because of the huge thunderstorm that ripped into the area. I cycled into the storm and got a "tad" wet while dodging lightning strikes - upon the threshold of real danger, I turned around and rode the storm home. I was going 35mph at some parts with the wind pushing me. All in all, I managed to salvage a skimpy 22 miler out of it (only half what I usually ride - just too dangerous).

Got back to my car soaked and changed quickly and then started to head towards home in a driving storm of hail and wind. It dumped so much rain that I was hydroplaning at 25mph while driving.

Stopped by Home Goods to pick up some new placemats & napkins (parents are visiting this weekend for a dinner party - need to get formal n shit). I scored a great set of grey Calvin Klein flax napkins and some warm colored soft linen placemats. I decided to dress out the table with a few things to see what it looks like (pictured).

Came home to the unsuprizing deck garden full of hurricane-force mayem from the storm - 1/2 my garden was basically sprayed across the deck - uprooted and such. I knew this was the fate - I spent an hour repotting and repositioning plants and cleaning up. The wind was so intense that it sprayed potting soil mud over 12 feet onto my windows. Will have to deal with that later.

Time to unwind - thew on some Coltrane and finished cooking some pasta with homemade pesto - and a quick salad. Oh crap...time to do laundry. Life smiles back at me.

Another hot hot day. It started out odd, I got a call very early in the morning from my Mom saying that their house had been violated this morn - some kids or someone kicked in a panel or something on their garage door - police had just left. Only minor damage - but the door will have to be replaced (damaged the frame) - replace both, double garage doors. Second time in one month - they had a similar thiung happen at their lake house - verry unsettling because in both communities, they are very safe and upscale. But most likely kids in both situations. I assured my mom that she shouldn't buy into being the victim in this - to not get overly paranoid, this is what the violators want. I think she bought it - because I myself was the victim of a home robbery/car theft a number of years ago. Fortunately no one was hurt in any of those situations...property is just that...property...stuff. Life does move on.

Work was just that - another stressful day... which made for an exciting day to all of sudden realize it's 6pm...suited up and headed out into the heat. Did almost exactly what I did yesterday - biked for an hour (it was exactly 100 degrees when I left work - heat index of over 110 degrees - stuck to a 24 miler, too dangerous to bike in this heat)..ran a few errands..came home and popped in the pool to relax.

Still dabbling here and there with settling in...while now trying to live here. I really love it. Cranked up some Coltrane while installing some new lights and peppered the place with some candle accents...how gay is that. The metrosexual inner guy came out and went boss hog on the place. Had to "guy" it up afterwards by sitting out on my deck and drinking a Coors Lite and scratching my nuts. Life is good.

Hot Hot Hot day. It started out with my AC not working (since been fixed - they finished before 10am) while I was at work. Work was a semi-leisurely stress fest. I took a quick break in the early afternoon to drop off a deposit on a desk chair - This thing is wicked cool. I ordered a bunch a while ago for the office - and I like them so much, ordered one for myself - with different fabric. Will take a month to get here.

Later in the afternoon, I was getting my cycling crap out of my car - the folks in my office think I'm nuts, saying things like "oh you've got to be kidding" and "let's take a bet which tv station we'll see scott on tonight bent over in heat stroke" - they were kidding, but I got the signal - it was going to be brutal. I took a screenshot of www.weather.com right about the time I was to leave the office - only 97 degrees F - but a heat index of 118 degrees F. I assured the folks in my office that I was only going to go on a short ride. I froze my hydration bladder and had 2 liters of water with me. I walked outside...it was a wall of heat and humidity. Decided that I'd do a quick 1/2 hour to an hour ride. Finished only 22 miles in an hour. It wasn't so bad - there was hot wind in my face and other cycling freaks out there waving in a freekish glee.

Finished up and came home and went to my pool - it felt relaxing and cut the heat. I do feel like a freak at the pool - I have the oddest cycling tan. The sun was going down - so not much sun to help even up my freak-boi tan.

Came home and sat out on my deck and had a beer then repositioned my window box flowers - we had a wicked storm that came thru this morning that rained like crazy and blew the plants around. They will eventually perk up - boxes pictured.

Finished dinner and gonna try to finish up a few things - and back to some writing. Now that I'm settled - I am trying to do some things other than domestic crap. Eventually I'd like to set up an area to paint.

Tomorrow is going to be hot as hell....hotter than today and same on Wed. Will prolly plan to do a similar plan - bike for an hour and then go to the pool. It's too dangerous for me to be out there in this heat.

What a relaxing day - finished up a few domestic tasks in the morning and headed out on a 52 mile training ride. Weather was not too hot - came back and chilled out at the pool. Ran to the store to get a few things for the week and came home and planted my deck garden - while listening to Little Feat at a local venue (across Rt 7). Was kinda nice to have live music while I was planting. Finished up and had dinner and prepped for the workweek. My AC is now not working again - I need to call in the morn to have it repaired - they are very quick to respond. Fortunately it is storming outside - the rain is cooling things down (opened the windows). Sunday night anxiety settle in...
