Woke up very sleepy this morning - stayed up way too late last night trying to finish cleaning my bike and the beginning of packing/preparing for my move.
Milled around the house doing all sorts of packing and organization - it's exciting to move - just stressful to deal with all the planning/preparation/details. I grew up as a military brat, moved all the time. Now that I'm older - I realize all the crap my parents had to go thru almost every year - I can fully appreciate it now. Maybe this is why I've slowly gained an abhorrence to moving - it's just a pain in the ass.
Spent the early afternoon helping my father do some replacement repair deck work. Was fun just being outside - in hot weather sweating our asses off telling jokes, doing manly shit, hearing stories. I love my dad.
I finished up and headed out to Vienna for a very hot and humid 42 mile training ride. I toned down the miles today because it was very hot and I already had a good workout out on the deck. I did meet up with another cyclist - who I've ridden a few times with before. Was good company, but he about wore my ass out when I only wanted a light training ride. Then I find out later that he's a Cat 1 racer. I got back to the car and drank a full litre of gatorade in almost one gulp.
Came home, had some bratwurst on the grill, summer corn on the cob, and a really nice fruit salad (strawberrries, blueberries, mango, clementines, grapes). Followed dinner with watching The Aviator (about Howard Hughs) - was a really interesting, albeit LONG film. Was entertaining. Much about the odd trivialties I already knew - I've always been fascinated with him and his freaky legacy.
As I said...long film, so here I am late late late. Tomorrow will be much of the same as today...with the exception that I'll be doing a few shopping things for my new apartment....vacuum, towels, summer bedspread....and packing tape...and then meeting up with a special friend later :)
Life is Good.

Q: How did God punish Adam and Eve?
A: He made them move.
Hope you're happy in your new home.

You've so very lucky to have your parents nearby, well and involved in your life without smothering you. I do hope you tell them you love them in person too. Stay well, Scott, and enjoy your holiday.
