An exciting yet very tiresome day.
I started the day with a nasty humid commute in - and I am counting the days until I hopefully can move (more on this later). Even though I had the AC on high....the few minutes it took me once I got to my office to grab a few things and head to the door - I was sweating like a pig.
Work was the standard day of stressful drama - but I championed thru it and looked forward to my ride after work. In the meantime - I was in the process of faxing stuff back and fourth and in contact with the apartment management - I have the place secured and reserved (in my name). I have yet to sign the lease - so I'm not completely locked in yet. But feels good to have a place lined up. Will *possibly* be moving the week of the 10th of July. I have a crapload of details..and preparations. First on list, new towels and vacuum. I'm stoked to "get all boney on it".
Another huge detail - I need to get a new computer. My poor old mac has been in the box for a while. Too much work to have to update it and make it work. I may just get a Dell out of convenience...or have one of my total "Nick Burns" colleagues at work build me a machine for cheap....semi-risky. But what the hell...they love doing it. The new place has high speed internet (well crap, we should...the "silicon alley" of NoVA). I won't go into any more detail about the place until I actually have the lease signed - I've been approved...just like to get my paws on the lease and have it signed.

After work - I had a quick warmup before I biked to meet up with my cycling club. It was wicked hot out - hovering around 94 degrees, with major humidity. But I was ready to sweat. And that we did, plenty of it. I decided to go with the "A" group this time - I reluctantly rolled out of parking lot with about 20 of us. We were to do a 46 miler out in Ashburn (near my soon to be new neighborhood) - and what a fast and hot ride it was. I was able to keep up for about the first 40 miles before I got "dropped" (they mixed the "AA's" and "A" riders - these blokes are all semi-pro riders. It was great fun...almost. I hung back with a few buds and we got pleasantly lost in Ashburn and ended up doing another 8 miles as a result. Headed back to car and had to change out of my gear..I was sopping wet...everything.
Came home and started making lists of things I know are too obvious to pack...and started... I'll hire a few guys and a truck...I could do most of it myself...but I want to conserve my back for the cycling season...I'll be on the 3rd floor...no elevator.
Looking forward to tomorrow being Friday...much to do....change of addresses, bills to put deposits on, insurance to add, all that "fun stuff"... Least a 4 day weekend to schedule it...then after the following weekend.... This weekend will involve relaxing...many chores...some cooking....help parents replace part of their deck...and of course..alot of cycling (will not be so hot over the weekend...will be 99 degrees tomorrow...time to break out the hydration bladder to use in conjunction).
Finished my 1/2 year cycling log - 7,059 miles since January this year. Not bad. Now the pace will speed up. I hope to finish at over 15,000 miles.

Finally figured out how to veiw your new blogs. I had to remove the date specific stuff at the end of the address. Anyway, Wednesday's ride sounded like quite an adventure. I'm psyched. I have my mornings off through Sunday and following three days off, CYCLOFESTORAMA and a day trip to the beach. Whoohoo! Ciao, Dave
