Wake up call at 10am brutally awakens me to a swollen face, feverish body, complete chest and nasal congestion, and to top it all off - every single muscle in my body hurts - obviously I know what the wrath of The Mountains of Misery. And the fever even made my hair hurt. I was one miserable person. I had slept a full 12 hours, I felt "rested", but completely miserable. To boot, I had to check out in a few hours and drive my sore stiff body 6 hours back home.

Oh Joy.

Well, I had a worse day yesterday, cycling up 101 miles of pure hell - not like I had to bike home. So that lifted my spirits. I popped a few advil, some cold meds, slurped down some coffee and headed to the pool. Felt really nice to stretch out in the cold pool. I was finally awake - had color in my face. HEaded back to room, took a nice hot shower, did some more stretching, sipped more coffee and ordered in lunch - ate and then checked out. It was nice weather for a drive home - albeit warm...too much air conditioning.

Was the same drive in reverse - a ton of fast trucks rolling on 81 at 70+ mph, up down up down, ears popping - beautiful mountains. I finally got within the NoVA area, hopped on 66 and headed towards Vienna for a quick 25 mile bike stretch - I had to milk the lactose acid outta my legs and stretch. I was hurting - from sitting stiff in the car for 6 hours. Took a very wet stretch in the rain and then came home, ate dinner, unpacked, organized and then simply collapsed - next day was a work day.
