Arrrg, I fucking hate computers. This will be the third time I will try to type this - and save it before I lose it. I stupidly wrote about a page and a half without saving, then froze up. Oh well, the second time around will not be as exciting - just filled with rage.

Anyhoo, I went to the National Geographic Museum today - well, not really a museum - rather the National Geographic Society Headquarters (in Washington, DC) - which has a whole series of galleries. Albeit, nice galleries (but 1/2 the museum galleries are under construction). But it was a nice trip - I had never been there before. Saw two exibits, the first a photography exibit on the tribal courtships in Africa - the second, an interactive exhibit on the history of traditional to the digital cartographic mapmaking activities of National Geographic. Both very interesting. Out of the norm for me to choose these - but I was looking to do something different. The African tribal courtship photography display was interesting in that the archaic courtship methodology and practices may be different in the proclivity of how it is done in "nature" is really no different how we stupid modern people do it today. Granted we don't have plate lips, extended neck rings, or do hyper bizarre "charm dancing" (photo) to look totally crazy with the intentional ability to become "wall-eyed" and show teeth, almost in drag....the funny thing - is that we do the same bullshit to get laid. It's all about the same, whether it's lipstick, victims of fashion, piercings, tattoos, the way we dress to become attention whores to get laid, seek a stable mate....and then breed. CTRL+S (phew saved that).

Felt nice to do something a little different. I came home, had lunch, then drove out to Vienna to go on a bike ride. The weather decided to get colder (well heck, it was almost 70 degrees yesterday). Went on a short 35 miler - I was really stiff from the last 2 days...little burnt out on doing 95 miles in 2 days - but the weather was nice. So over the three day weekend, I did 130 miles.

Finished up the day with making some Penne with a Shitake and Clams in a champagne pesto butter sauce (nothing like cooking with left over champagne from New Years) - recipe soon to follow.
