I got a haircut today. Yes, all of them. While sitting there getting my brownie locks sheared off, I was wondering what this woman was thinking while cutting my hair. Possibly something mundane, or domestic, like what was she going to cook for dinner ("did I take the chicken out of the freezer to thaw?"). Probably not. Maybe something a little more complex like, "Gee, this guys' ears look like those morel mushrooms i saw on Iron Chef last week...."
I noticed how comfortable she was folding my morel ears down to clip the hair. One has to be fearless to be in that level of professional intimacy where you touch someone's body in public as a service. Got me thinkin' about all sorts of crap. What the public pays other people to do...in services - services that require human to human physical contact. Everything from routine or specialty health professional services/care to things like body waxing et al. When I get my haircut, i wish I could read the mind of the person doin the snipping. I pontificate if they wonder what I'm thinking. More than likely not. Too vain for me to think that. Least I got a haircut, and the woman didn't think out loud and say "this is a lousy tip, next time I'll cut your mushroom ears off".
